My X-mas wishlist

I told myself that this christmas, I wouldn’t ask for books, just movies. I have enough books, I told myself. Now you’re probably asking me in a deadpan tone, "How many books?" Yeah, that’s right: I’m asking for books anyway.

-Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
-Street Magic and Demon Bound by Caitlin Kittredge
-Strange Angels and Betrayals by Lili St Crow
-Max by James Patterson (it’s the fifth in the series)
-The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa de la Cruz
-Shadowland by Alyson Noel
-Tempted by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast
-Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me? by Louise Rennison
-Going Bovine by Libba Bray
-The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
-City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
-The Giver by Lois Lowry
-Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice by Phillip M Hoose
-Graceling by Kristin Cashore

That’s 16 books, by the way. I couldn’t help myself! Now, it’s 1 am and I should dry my hair and get some sleep.

Yesterday I wrote 284 new words.
New total:

In other news, I’ve watched:

  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • Transformers
  • Watchmen
  • Great balls of fire!

(You need to watch these movies if you haven’t.) The list of movies I still need to see is never-ending…

I’ve read:

  • Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine
  • Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr
  • Stone Cold by Robert Swindells

Again, these books are good, although Carpe Corpus, the sixth in a series, isn’t worth spending money on. I won’t be buying the seventh book, an eighth if there is one. Stone Cold was… unbelievable, in a very good way: read it. Ink Exchange had the most beautiful writing. Definitely worth reading. (Although you should read Wicked Lovely first. It’s kind of a series, but IE is a companion novel.)

Websites I recommend:

However, I must warn that these will easily make you lose several hours of your life — that you’ll never get back. So please use with caution.

Homeworkwise, I’ve done bugger all. But I will start today. (I’m on holiday.) I have, including today, 7 days to do my huge pile of homework. This homework includes:

  • Maths (to be handed in)
  • French (book to read (Germinal) and 8 exercises)
  • Science (drawings to redo)
  • English (dossier thing to start)
  • Spanish test
  • Maths test
  • Science test
  • Physiques to hand in

Aren’t I lucky to be in the French school system? It’s not all for the day I go back, Thursday 5th. Lucky me. Oh, and I have two presentations coming up, one in French and one in Geography. Yay.

I’ve seen Final Destination 1 and 2, and have read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I’ve also written 829 new words since the last word count. And I’ve done my homework. It’s not even 7 pm. That it is what I call a good, productive weekend. I’ve also watched The X Factor and The Xtra Factor.

One of the many the disadvantages of going back to school is that I haven’t written (on the computer) all week, so my hands are very sore right now. When writing becomes my full-time career, I’m definitely going to need a hand therapist.

Here’s one paragraph from my novel, chapter 7:

Under the tap, I cup my hands and watch the stream of water fill them. I look straight into the mirror and, because no one else is there, tell myself: “Everything is going to be fine. It might not be now, but it will be. It has to be.” I drink the water and leave.

Do no steal. It’s MINE. I wrote it. And don’t try to make sense of it, you won’t be able to: you haven’t read anything else. Unless you read the first three chapters when they were still on fiction press. Now they’re gone. I’ll only post my novel when it’s complete and edited. So maybe… Christmas? New Year’s?

Anyway, I’m off to either watch Final Destination 3 or shower. This depends on my sister having finished her homework.

Oh! How could I forget: I SAW INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Artistically beautiful, violent, funny, great dialogue that leads nowhere plot-wise: something only Tarantino can accomplish.

I have got to see some more of his movies.

Today’s goal

Leftover unwritten words from yesterday: 673 words

Today’s goal: 1293 + 673 = 1966

Meaning 245 words per hour between 4.20 p.m. and 12.20 p.m.

It’s extremely doable, except nobody is willing to LEAVE ME ALONE and I need to get over my writer’s block, figure out what’s going to happen, in detail, AND rewrite a HUGE chunk of text. UGH. So technically, it ISN’T doable…

I’m gonna go ignore my novel some more by reading Livejournals.

To be read list: Carpe Corpus, Ink Exchange, The Forest of Hands and Teeth — *kills fly, see Twitter http://www.twitter.com/luckynumbr22 — and plenty of other books. Oh yeah and “The Sweet Far Thing”.

Evermore
Blue Moon
Ways to Live Forever
Carrie
Life at the Shallow End
Out of my Depth
Kissing Kate

I’m now reading: Ransom my Heart.

Before reading Carrie, I’d never, for some reason, read a Stephen King book before. And now I regret it so much, because it means I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

Evermore and Blue Moon (the Immortals Series) were pretty good. What really bugged me was the “eternal partner”, “he’s gorgeous, hot, sexy”, and “my eternal soul mate” parts, which reminded me of Twilight. The incessant “I’m not worthy, I’m not pretty enough” bla bla bla shit also annoyed me.

The good thing was that the girl saved the guy, although she made a very stupid mistake, which diminished the “girl power” thing. *sigh*
